Heartland hand Emmanuel College student call-up
An Emmanuel College, Owerri, student, Daniel Onyechinedu, has earned an invitation to join the Heartland FC feeder team following his impressive performance in a novelty football match.
The invitation was announced by the Imo State Commissioner for Sports, Evarestus Onyeocha, after he watched Onyechinedu, who wore the No. 7 jersey for Emmanuel College, display his footballing skills during the match.
The novelty match, organised as part of activities marking the handover of a newly renovated five-classroom block to the school, ended 2-1.
Onyeocha commended the school and its old boys for their commitment to sports development, saying Onyechinedu’s performance had earned him an opportunity to join the Heartland FC feeder team.

Madumere said the group had also presented brand-new football jerseys to the school team to encourage sporting excellence, teamwork, discipline and healthy competition among the students.
Responding, Onyechinedu thanked the state government and the commissioner for the opportunity to showcase his talent.
He pledged to remain committed to his development and continue to give his best, promising not to disappoint his parents and the school.
