Former UFC flyweight champion Brandon Moreno is stepping back into the Octagon this weekend with a renewed mindset and an eagerness to simply enjoy the sport he loves.

Preparing for his highly anticipated debut at a Noche UFC event, the Mexican star faces a dangerous and highly motivated opponent in Joseph Morales.

For Moreno, the spotlight of Noche UFC adds a special layer of significance to his return. “I feel amazing. I feel actually super excited for this fight this weekend,” Moreno said. “It’s going to be my first Noche finally. So that makes it more exciting for sure.”

Standing across the cage will be Morales, a fighter who is currently riding a wave of momentum. After an initial stint in the UFC, Morales battled his way back. stringing together two consecutive victories in the promotion.

“I think the biggest challenge against Joseph Morales is going to be, he’s going to be super motivated. He came back, he won The Ultimate Fighter, and now he’s two in a row in the promotion,”Moreno acknowledged.

“So, he’s going to be super excited, super motivated, and that’s going to be super dangerous,” he added.

While Moreno holds a significant edge in high-level UFC championship experience, he isn’t underestimating Morales’s overall martial arts background. Instead of feeling the heavy pressure of his past title fights, Moreno is altering his mental approach, seeking to recapture the initial spark that drew him to mixed martial arts.

“It’s about to get a lot of fun. Just to remember how I started and why I started this sport... just get a lot of fun in the fight,” Moreno explained.

Coming off two consecutive losses, many fighters might feel the weight of the world on their shoulders, but the former champion remains unfazed, brushing off the streak and viewing the setbacks as merely “part of the sport.” Unburdened by the past, his current drive is rooted entirely in his passion for competition.

“What motivates me the most is just the love for the sport. It’s given me everything in this life. I’m still super young. I’m still waking up every morning super motivated to do my job... I’m just motivated to keep doing what I love,” he stated.

When asked about his future in the flyweight division and a potential path back to the title, Moreno firmly pumped the brakes. For now, the only thing on his radar is the man standing across from him this weekend.

“I’m not watching farther than Joseph Morales. My goal is to get the victory this weekend,” Moreno insisted.
