Kai Cenat's Streamer University pulled more than 53 million hours of watch time at Hendrix College in Arkansas in July, and Ludwig, who taught there, has now checked in on how the class is doing. On a recent YouTube stream, he told his chat that "everyone fell off" and called the number of students who stopped streaming "kind of a sad stat." Plenty of them treated the event like a "golden ticket," Ludwig said. His own channel, he admitted, has not been spared either.

Ludwig says the median Streamer University student now gets 59 viewers

"59 okay, that number is the median viewers across all streamers from streamer you for this last week," Ludwig said, after warning his chat that he had brought numbers "just to just to hammer in the point."

That median is "actually down 25 from before streamer you," so the typical student is now pulling smaller crowds than before they were picked. Ludwig even stopped to ask whether his viewers knew "how medians work." Half the class sits below it.

Around 120 streamers made the cut for this year's run, held July 15 to 20 in Conway, Arkansas. "streamer you was a big deal," Ludwig said, and a group that had that much attention on it was expected to grow, not shrink.

Ludwig believes 15 Streamer University students have walked away from streaming

"Okay, 15 streamers just straight-up quit." Ludwig was open about how sure he was. "At least that's my perception because they haven't streamed at all in the last like weeks or months," he said. None of them has announced a retirement. Their channels have simply gone quiet.

By his own math, that is "around 10%" of the class, and it bothered him because the students had a "huge leg up in terms of knowledge, but also like viewership." Many expected a "catapulting effect where you move on to become, you know, one of the one of the streamers." Instead, Ludwig said: "They're not even doing it anymore."

Ludwig says his own YouTube numbers have dropped by 1,000 viewers

It is not only the students. Ludwig said "this affects everybody" and pointed to his own channel. "a thousand which is how many viewers I have lost over the last 90 days," he said. That covers almost exactly the same stretch the Streamer University class has been struggling through since July.

He did not name the 15 streamers, and he did not share which channels went into his median, so his figures cannot yet be checked against a list. Kai Cenat, who runs Streamer University, has not commented on Ludwig's numbers. The event is already set to expand to Europe in 2027.
