KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 2 — The 2026 Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix, which Malaysia is hosting this weekend, will be broadcast live on RTM, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced today.

He said the live telecast would give Malaysians the chance to experience the thrill of a world-class race, with the event taking place at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC), Bernama reported.

SIC is serving as a temporary venue for the race. In July, Formula 1 confirmed Malaysia as host following an agreement between F1, the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), and the governments of Malaysia and Bahrain.

The arrangement kept the Bahrain Grand Prix on the 2026 calendar after the race, originally scheduled earlier in the season, was cancelled due to geopolitical tensions in West Asia.

The event marks Malaysia’s return to the F1 calendar. The country hosted the Malaysian Grand Prix at Sepang from 1999 to 2017 before it was dropped.
