The Stargate franchise is set to make a big return next month in an exciting new release for hardcore fans and collectors of the beloved sci-fi series. While it might not be the grand return of Stargate SG-1 to our screens that we've all been waiting for, it's definitely something to keep us ticking over until that day inevitably arrives.

Fans will be familiar with the Horus Guards, of course. With their falcon-headed helmets and intimidatingly sleek Egyptian-style armor, they've become iconic villains since their introduction in the original 1994 film. They serve under the formidable Goa'uld ruler Ra, with Stargate SG-1 ultimately establishing them as elite Jaffa warriors serving Ra's family.

If you need an example of how great Stargate's world building and lore is, the Horus Guards are it. Working for "Horus the Elder," a ruthless System Lord and the son of Ra and Hathor, the elite guard wielded lethal staff weapons and protected themselves with stunningly designed armour, the highlight of which is the falcon helmet. Now, a new upcoming release set for December 2026 is bringing these imposing warriors back in spectacular fashion.

The legendary Horus Guards are set to return next month thanks to Master Replicas, who unveiled a staggeringly detailed recreation of the iconic helmets from the Stargate SG-1 television series. As part of the company's ever-expanding collection of Stargate merch, the new Horus Guard Helmet Desktop Replica brings one of the series' most enduring designs to life in a brand-new way.

The replica expertly recreates the distinctive helmet worn by Jaffa warriors, complete with hooked beak, elaborate golden headdress, and trappings inspired by the ancient Egyptian god Horus. The designers have confirmed the collectible was digitally sculpted using "a careful study of the original props" and you can definitely see the work that's gone into it.

"As befits the falcon god, the helmet is designed with the fierce, hooked beak and sculpted headdress of Horus himself," reads the official product description. "The Horus Guards served Ra and later Heru'ur, and their helmets were among the first sights to greet SG-1 when they stepped through the gate to Abydos - a warning that the gods of Earth's ancient past were very much alive, and still ruling. The replica helmet was digitally sculpted, based on careful study of the original props. The replica is made out of polyresin and is carefully painted to give the helmet its authentic appearance, measuring just under 6 inches (15 cm) tall, including its specially designed display stand."

While you obviously won't be able to wear this helmet yourself unless you have a particularly/worringly small head, it's still a lovely collectible piece that's infinitely more affordable than the full-sized equivalent would be.

The Horus Guard Helmet is the second release in Master Replicas' new desktop replica collection, which also includes a few other impressive Goa'uld designs, including the Serpent Guard helmet. The company has been growing its Stargate line with everything from miniature starships to recreations of iconic props, helping to keep the franchise alive while it takes a little rest.
