Fans will meet a different version of Harrison Morgan in the upcoming Dexter: Resurrection season 2.

Before Dexter: Resurrection, Jack Alcott first played Harrison Morgan in the 2021 sequel series Dexter: New Blood, which reintroduced Dexter’s estranged son as a teenager trying to find his father while dealing with his own inner darkness. Compared to Michael C. Hall’s titular character, Harrison has a more tragic backstory in the Dexter franchise. On top of having a serial killer father, Harrison vividly remembers his mother Rita’s brutal death at the hands of the Trinity Killer. In Dexter: Resurrection season 1, Harrison develops a hero complex that allows him to avoid becoming his father's successor.

During an interview with Trey Mangum, Alcott was asked about Harrison Morgan’s character development in the Dexter franchise. He shared how he loved that he got to play different iterations of his character every season, teasing that Dexter: Resurrection season 2 will definitely be “the most mature.” Alcott also hinted at what fans can expect from Harrison and Dexter’s complicated bond in the next installment, as Harrison sets a new path for himself. Check out his comments below:

I've loved that I've gotten to play a different iteration of the character each season. This one definitely is the most mature. This one's definitely the most – maybe not the most focused, I mean, in New Blood, Harrison is very focused on finding his dad and getting answers, but it's a different kind of focus. There's a relaxation and familiarity that this version of Harrison has with his father. And then, I think, with his own life, like he's not a nomad anymore. Yeah. He's not recently gone through some massive trauma. He's been focusing on the thing that he cares about and it's just starting. He's taking his first steps into achieving his goals, like protecting innocent people. So yeah, I really loved this jumping off point for Harrison this year.

Dexter: Resurrection began with Dexter waking up from a weeks-long coma after surviving a gunshot wound. He travels to New York to reconcile with Harrison, who fled to the city to build a new life, while trying to escape the darkness he inherited. Dexter: Resurrection season 2 features a time jump, following Dexter dealing with a midlife crisis while getting caught between a veteran killer and a fresh-faced killer terrorizing New York in ways no one has ever seen. As for Harrison, he continues to shift his focus to law enforcement while trying to protect his father’s dark secrets.

The Paramount+ spinoff hails from showrunner and executive producer Clyde Phillips. Over a year ago, the crime thriller show debuted with a high critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes, earning praise for its storytelling, cast, and refreshing new set-up. Besides Hall and Alcott, the Dexter: Resurrection season 2 cast will include returning stars Uma Thurman as Charley, Kadia Saraf as Detective Wallace, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine as Blessing Kamara, Dominic Fumusa as Detective Oliva, Eric Stonestreet as Rapunzel, and Krysten Ritter as Lady Vengeance.

Dexter: Resurrection season 2 will also introduce a new wave of characters, including nasty villains such as The New York Ripper, The Five Borough Killer, and The Sleepy-Eyed Stranger. Playing these characters are Succession’s Brian Cox, Downton Abbey’s Dan Stevens, and The Last of Us’ Gabriel Luna, respectively. In a previous interview, Hall teased Cox’s New York Ripper and Steven’s Five Borough Killer, describing them as killers who are “at opposite ends of the spectrum in terms of their journey." Horror legends Kane Hodder and Barbara Crampton have also joined the new installment, along with Chris Jericho, Bokeem Woodbine, and Nona Parker Johnson.

The first episode of Dexter: Resurrection season 2 officially debuts on Friday, October 30, 2026, on Paramount+.
