The Consequence Band Week Survey: 107 Artists Name Their Favorite Bands of All Time

Consequence surveyed more than 100 artists to help build our 100 Best Bands of All Time list, and now we’re revealing everyone’s personal picks. Check out which bands each artist named as their favorites below, and also read our lists of the best guitarists, bassists, vocalists, and drummers.

---

Greta Van Fleet voted for Led Zeppelin. Jet voted for AC/DC. Paul Stanley of KISS voted for KISS.

To help build our list of the 100 Best Bands of All Time, we asked more than 100 artists across genres and generations to name their favorite bands. What came back was half playlist, half family tree.

The lineages are easy to read. Riot grrrl voted together, with Bratmobile’s Allison Wolfe and Sleater-Kinney’s Corin Tucker both naming Bikini Kill and The Slits. Metal went back to Birmingham: Mastodon, Anthrax’s Frank Bello, and former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted all named Black Sabbath.

Read on for the full picks from Danny Elfman, Kenny Loggins, Fugazi’s Brendan Canty, Pierce the Veil, Goose’s Rick Mitarotonda, Jimmy Eat World’s Jim Adkins, Lizzy McAlpine, Flipturn, Goo Goo Dolls’ John Rzeznik, Lindsey Stirling, Momma, Morgan Nagler, Taking Back Sunday, Tricky Stewart, Wisp, and dozens more.

You can also read the full survey quotes and watch videos from select contributors like Smashing Pumpkins’ Billy Corgan, Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme, Brandi Carlile, Fred Armisen and Tucker, Duane Denison of The Jesus Lizard and Tomahawk, and Violet Grohl. Then, take a look at the essential albums from the top 25 bands on our All Time list.
