NCRPO debunks online post on 2 martial law rally deaths
MANILA, Philippines — The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has denied a post circulating on social media that two individual died during a rally coinciding with the 54th anniversary of the declaration of martial law on Monday.
In a statement on Tuesday, the NCRPO said its real-time monitoring and reports from personnel on the ground showed that “no fatalities or casualties occurred during the activity.”
“There was a brief moment of tension, but the situation was quickly resolved through dialogue and the strict observance of maximum tolerance,” the NCRPO said, pertaining to the two youths who were supposedly “pacified” by police officers after being caught vandalizing in a rally along C.M. Recto Avenue in the City of Manila.

The NCRPO emphasized that the protest actions during the martial law anniversary were peaceful and orderly.
The debunked post circulated on social media alleged that “two protesters are dead at the gates of Malacañang on the 54th anniversary of Martial Law under Marcos Jr.”
“Where are the Kakampink human rights warriors now? Oh, right, they’re too busy helping Marcos impeach Sara Duterte to care about state-sanctioned dead bodies on Ayala Bridge,” the Facebook user likewise said.
The post has garnered around 5,600 reactions and 1,000 shares as of posting time.
