MC Jessy Opens Up About Pain of Losing an Election, Urges Kenyans Not to Give Up

Translate

MC Jessy has opened up about the emotional pain of losing an election, admitting that the experience affected him despite his popularity and confidence that he was riding a strong political wave.

In a message shared on Monday, October 5, 2026, Jessy reflected on the disappointment that comes with competing in an election and eventually losing, while encouraging others facing similar setbacks not to give up.

‘I felt it’

Jessy appeared to acknowledge that popularity and perceived public support can create high expectations about an election outcome.

“Bro, do you know what it means to lose an election day? Yeah, felt it. So you know I am popular. And the same. Najoin hivi UDA natrend, bro. natrend,” he said.

He then described the moment of coming to terms with an outcome that differed from what he had expected.

“Alafu anguke. Unajua unangukanga, una feel, paka... I felt it. I won’t lie to you. I felt it,” Jessy said.

His candid admission offered a glimpse into the emotional toll of electoral defeat, particularly for candidates who enter a contest with confidence, public visibility and expectations of success.

Jessy urges people to keep going

Rather than allowing the experience to define him, Jessy used his message to encourage people dealing with disappointment and other setbacks.

“But it is here. You remember what? It’s what’s happening. Bro, don’t give up. Man, it sounds easy. But apo chini, bro. Dust yourself up,” he said.

He also urged people not to become overly concerned with what others say after experiencing failure.

“Forget what people are saying. In fact, hakunanga kitu kama watasema nini... no. Just do what you gotta do to stay afloat. Don’t give up, don’t give up,” he added.

Jessy’s message highlighted the reality that setbacks can be painful, but they do not necessarily determine what comes next.
