UiTM Chamber Choir continues 11-year international winning streak

KUALA LUMPUR: The Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Chamber Choir (UCC) continued its 11-year record of international competition success after winning the G2 Youth Choir category at the 3rd Magdeburg International Choir Festival in Germany.

The 25-member delegation, led by choral conductor Maryam Magdalena Linnis and accompanied by UiTM Faculty of Music dean Professor Dr Tazul Izan Tajuddin, also received the festival's Best and Outstanding Choir Performance award.

UCC secured a Gold Diploma Level VIII in the G2 Youth Choir category with 27.79 points and a Gold Diploma Level IX in the Folklore category with 28.67 points.

The UiTM Women's Choir, comprising female members of the ensemble, was also named the category winner in the Equal Voices Choral Music category and received a Gold Diploma Level VIII with 27.94 points.

The Best and Outstanding Choir Performance award was presented by the Choir Association of Saxony-Anhalt in recognition of UCC's overall performance at the festival.

The achievement marks the 11th consecutive year UCC has participated in and achieved success at international choral competitions.

The participation also gave students opportunities to engage with choirs, conductors and musicians from different cultural backgrounds, providing international exposure beyond the competition.

The Faculty of Music said the achievement reflected its commitment to developing globally competitive graduates while strengthening UiTM's international presence through music, performance and artistic collaboration.
