Revellers across the UK have donned their spookiest Halloween costumes as they celebrated the scariest weekend of the year.

It's the last Halloween that will land on a Saturday for over a decade and Brits have come out in their droves to party late into the night.

From Leeds to London, partygoers braved the chilly and dark city streets for a night of spooky fun.

This year, Brits opted for an eclectic range of costumes. While many opted for traditional outfits, such as skeletons and pumpkins, others chose more abstract getups including one woman who dressed as a corn on the cob.

Others chose to dress up as movie icons like Lord Farquaad from Shrek or Dr Seuss's The Lorax.

Commuters on London's Underground might have caught a fright when they travelled on the Tube last night when they were greeted by Londoners wearing some of their scariest fancy dress costumes.

Meanwhile, celebrities also got in on the action with the Celebrity Traitors' Maya Jama taking home the prize for the most innovative costume of the night after she dressed up as the Olympic legend Mo Farah.
