2028 Olympics Qualifier: Comoros Coach Abdallah Targets Historic Win Over Super Falcons
Comoros women’s national team head coach Yusuf Abdallah believes his side can pull off a major upset by eliminating Nigeria from the race to qualify for the 2028 Olympic Games.
The island nation will take on the Super Falcons in the first leg of their second-round qualifying tie on Friday at their makeshift home ground in Ikenne.
Comoros booked their place in the encounter after thrashing Sudan 30-0 on aggregate in the previous round.
Despite the gulf in experience and quality between both sides, Abdallah remains optimistic about his team’s chances of producing a positive result against the African giants.
Abdallah Admits Super Falcons’ Quality
He acknowledged Nigeria’s pedigree, describing it as an honour to face a team with such vast experience and quality.
Speaking to the media ahead of the encounter, Abdallah admitted that his side faces a difficult challenge but stressed that they understand what is at stake.

“It is already an honour to face a team with so much experience and such a high level of quality. We are aware of the challenge that lies ahead and how difficult it will be to overcome it,” he said.
Comoros Ready To Battle Super Falcons
Despite recognising Nigeria’s strength, Abdallah insists his players will approach the contest with determination, and a strong belief in their ability to secure a favourable result.
The tactician maintained that football remains unpredictable and that his team would focus on making the most of their opportunities.
“We are here to play a serious match and give ourselves the best possible chance by making the most of our opportunities. As you know, in football, a match is never won until it has been played,” Abdallah stated.
“It is an important match for everyone, both Nigeria and Comoros. Of course, if we lose, we will be disappointed, but we are not thinking about defeat.
“We have come here to play a serious match, and we will do everything possible to ensure that the result goes in our favour.”
