Robbie Williams Apologizes for Decades-Long Argentina Absence During First Show Back: “I Had to Go to Rehab 15 Times”

Translate

Robbie Williams returned to the stage in Argentina for the first time in 20 years on Thursday night, and took a moment to address his lengthy absence from the country.

Performing the first of three sold-out shows at Buenos Aires’ Movistar Arena, Williams acknowledged that two decades had passed since his last concerts in Argentina.

“20 fucking years. My fault,” Williams told the crowd, before reflecting on some of the personal struggles he has faced during that time. “I had to go to rehab 15 fucking times. But I’m okay now.”

Thursday’s concert marked Williams’ first performance in Argentina since two shows at River Plate Stadium in October 2006. He had been scheduled to return as a headliner for Personal Fest in 2018, but severe weather forced organizers to cancel the festival’s opening day. The performance was never rescheduled.

Williams’ return also featured a couple of notable additions to his current setlist. He performed “Karma Killer” for the first time since 2022 and gave “No Regrets” its tour debut. The 21-song set ultimately closed with “Feel” and “Angels.”

The singer had already made his return to Buenos Aires a memorable earlier in the week, when he surprised roughly 30 to 40 fans gathered outside his hotel with an impromptu four-song acoustic performance. The moment came just days after Williams pulled a similar surprise in Lima, Peru, following the cancellation of his scheduled concert there due to safety concerns at the venue.

Williams will play the Movistar Arena again on October 2nd and 4th before continuing his tour with dates in Mexico and Brazil. Look for deals and get tickets to sold-out shows here (where fans can save $20 on their first order of $200 or more with promo code CONSEQUENCE20 at checkout).
