Asian Para Games 2026: Ayush Verma adds shot put gold to javelin bronze

India’s Ayush Verma won the gold medal in the men’s shot put F53 event at the Asian Para Games on Wednesday.Ayush’s best throw of 8.16m came in his fifth attempt and helped him finish first in the event.Iran’s Alireza Hemami won the silver medal with a throw of 8.09m. Kazakhstan’s Makhambet Serikkaliyev took bronze with 6.81m.

Second medal for Ayush

Ayush added a second medal to his tally at the Games. He had won bronze in the men’s javelin throw F53/F54 event on Tuesday.

What is the F53 category?

The F53 category is for athletes who have limited movement in their trunk and legs, while their hand grip is less affected.Athletes compete from a seated position and use their chest, upper back and shoulders to generate force for their throws.
