ABC's 'The View' co-host Ana Navarro urges viewers to vote for Dem in key Florida congressional race

ABC is facing blowback Monday after "The View" co-host Ana Navarro urged viewers to vote for a Democrat in a key Florida congressional race.

Navarro marveled at the tightening race between incumbent Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar, R-Fla., and her Democratic opponent Elliott Rodriguez in the Sunshine State's 27th district. Salazar recently made headlines for releasing an ad critical of President Donald Trump's immigration policies.

The host noted to viewers she lives in that district.

"I had taken for granted this race because she won two years ago by 20 points. And this is a district Donald Trump won by 15 points ... but polls have her dead even," Navarro said.

"So, anybody who lives in Coral Gables, in Miami, in Key Biscayne, in downtown Miami, pay attention to that race and go vote because it's going to matter," she continued. "And we can actually knock this woman out. There's a great guy running. His name is Elliott Rodriguez. Give him a look!"

Critics have accused ABC of "electioneering" and questioned whether Navarro's comments violate broadcast licensing rules.

"How is this not electioneering? She's literally telling them who to vote for," Daily Wire opinion editor Ben Domenech reacted on X.

"Wannabe ‘bona fide’ news," Media Research Center President David Bozell wrote.

"This should be the absolute end of ABC’s license," Heritage Foundation media fellow Tim Young posted.

"The View" has been under intense scrutiny by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), which has had a bitter legal battle with ABC and whether programs like "The View" are considered "bona fide news," allowing it to be exempt from equal time rules for political candidates.

Navarro has never been shy about her politics. She has been a vocal Trump critic and served as a host at the 2024 Democratic National Convention.
