Coronation Street teases Todd Grimshaw's next romance after star's tease

Coronation Street has teased the next potential romance for Todd Grimshaw after actor Gareth Pierce spoke about the possibility in an exclusive chat with Digital Spy.

Tonight's episode saw Christina Boyd invite Todd and George Shuttleworth to the pub, but Todd told them that he had plans in the evening with James Bailey.

An intrigued Christina asked if she was "detecting a little bit of sexual chemistry between the two of you?"

Todd tried to play it down, telling her: "Two gay men are able be friends without ripping each other's clothes off."

Christina chose not to push it forward, joking that he was being "just as boring as us straights, eh", but couldn't help but notice their body language in the Rovers.

At the bar James put his arm around Todd and leant his head into Todd's shoulder while they got giddy at the idea of having some drinks.

George and Maggie Driscoll both noted that they looked "cosy" and would make a "fine-looking couple", but the speculation started to get on Todd's nerves, so planned to head into town.

George decided to have a little fun and asked Kirk Sutherland if he wanted to join them, saying that they wouldn't mind since it wasn't a date.

Later on, Todd joked about the "fine-looking couple" comment, but was left speechless when James asked him if he thought that they actually would.

It looks like James is keen, but could it be a happening thing?

Speaking at the Inside Soap 2026 Awards, where he won Best Actor, Pierce said: "I guess it's deciding at what point... it's not just a rebound. I think that it may still be a little tentative."

He did state that James is "definitely a really good person to have in Todd's life in this next phase" but it's still be seen "where the writers want to take it".
