Seven people have been killed and seven others injured in a road crash involving a Toyota Sienna and a Mazda vehicle along the Kutigi–Bida Road in Niger State.

The accident occurred around 11:30 am on Sunday at Shebe Village along the Kutigi–Bida Road, when the Mazda, which was travelling from Minna towards Mokwa, reportedly entered a blind corner and collided with the Sienna travelling from Lagos to Minna.

Our correspondent learnt that the Mazda had departed the Mobil Motor Park and was carrying eight passengers, while the Sienna was also fully occupied.

Seven of the occupants of the Mazda were said to have died in the crash, while a teenage girl, the only survivor in the vehicle, was unconscious as of the time of filing this report.

The Sienna had seven passengers who sustained injuries, while four others reportedly escaped unhurt.

The accident also left authorities searching for relatives of the teenage girl who survived the crash.

Confirming the incident on Sunday night, the Niger State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Aishat Saadu, said 18 people were involved in the crash.

She said, “As at the time of rescue, 18 people were involved, seven injured, seven killed and four not injured. The crash occurred around 11:30am along Kutigi-Bida Road at Shebe Village.”
