NFL hearing officer Derrick Brooks reduced Los Angeles Rams tackle Alaric Jackson’s suspension from two games to one on Wednesday for striking Buffalo Bills edge rusher Bradley Chubb.

The incident occurred moments after Buffalo’s 37-34 overtime victory over the Rams at SoFi Stadium on Monday night.

After removing his jersey and shoulder pads, Jackson approached the postgame handshake line and threw a punch at Chubb. Jackson later claimed Chubb made sexually degrading remarks about his mother during the game. Chubb did not retaliate.

The successful appeal saves Jackson an estimated $934,555 against his $16.8 million base salary, reducing his lost pay from two game checks to one.

"They always catch the second guy, so I let him swing, and then my teammates held me back, and I just chilled," Chubb said postgame.

Jackson will serve the one-game ban Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals and is eligible to return in Week 7 against the Las Vegas Raiders.

The official suspension statement read, in part:

"After the game, as players were shaking hands and exchanging jerseys, Jackson struck Buffalo linebacker Bradley Chubb in the face after a brief confrontation, violating Rule 12, Section 3, Article 1, which applies to "any act which is contrary to the generally understood principles of sportsmanship."

The ruling comes amid Jackson's prior disciplinary history with the league.

The NFL suspended Jackson for the first two games of the 2024 season under the Personal Conduct Policy regarding unconsented phone recordings, and he entered a diversion program following a June arrest on suspicion of domestic violence.
