MELAKA, Oct 18 — Barisan Nasional (BN) will announce the list of candidates who will contest in the Melaka State Election (PRN) on October 28, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh.

Ab Rauf, who is also the Melaka BN Chairman, said the line-up of candidates put forward will shoulder a heavy responsibility to continue the mandate’s continuity and ensure the party’s victory in the election.

“So, Insya-Allah, I will make the candidate announcement on October 28. Whoever the candidate may be, that is the candidate who will carry the waves of Umno and BN’s struggle,” he said in his speech at the launch of the Tangga Batu Parliamentary Election Machinery in Sungai Udang here last night.

Also present were Kedah Umno Liaison Body Chairman Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid, Melaka MCA Chairman Datuk Lim Ban Hong, and Tangga Batu Umno Division Chief Datuk Rais Yasin.

The Election Commission (EC) has set polling day for the Melaka state election on November 14, while nomination day is set for October 31 and early voting on November 10.

The previous Melaka state election held in 2021 saw BN winning 21 out of 28 seats, thereby forming the state government, while Pakatan Harapan (PH) won five seats and Perikatan Nasional won two seats. — Bernama
