NCRPO denies report of 2 deaths during September 21 protests in Manila

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Tuesday denied a circulating report claiming that two individuals supposedly died during the September 21 protests in Manila on Monday.

“Based on real-time monitoring and the reports submitted by our personnel on the ground, no fatalities or casualties occurred during the activity,” the NCRPO said in a statement.

“There was a brief moment of tension, but the situation was quickly resolved through dialogue and the strict observance of maximum tolerance,” it added.

For the NCRPO, the rally remained generally peaceful and orderly.

Tension rose during a September 21 protest in Manila on Monday, but police said no arrests were made as officers observed the government's maximum-tolerance policy.

At a press briefing on Monday, PNP spokesperson Police Colonel Allen Rae Co said the situation was quickly pacified after some individuals were restrained.

The NCRPO encouraged the public to verify information with authorities before sharing posts that could cause unnecessary alarm.

“The NCRPO remains committed to transparency and will continue to provide accurate, factual updates on incidents during public assemblies,” it said. —KG, GMA News
