US aircraft carrier en route to the Middle East – what is Trump planning?

The Wall Street Journal reported that the US Department of Defense has deployed the aircraft carrier Theodore Roosevelt and its strike group to the Middle East, at a time when US President Donald Trump is hinting at intensifying strikes against Iran following the midterm elections.
The newspaper revealed that the carrier and its strike group—carrying approximately10,000 troops—departed San Diego on Sunday.
The group is sailing toward the region to join the aircraft carriers George H.W. Bush and George Washington, which are already stationed there.
Replacement
Political science professor Areej Gabr said that the deployment of this aircraft carrier to the Middle East is intended to replace another carrier whose mission has concluded.
Speaking on the Al-Qahera News channel, Gabr explained that the move also serves to signal an increased military buildup in Iran’s vicinity and demonstrates full American army readiness, suggesting that the US is on the verge of resuming military confrontation.
Regarding US capabilities, she added that the military currently requires a higher level of readiness—particularly concerning interceptor missiles—meaning this period can be viewed as a preparatory phase leading up to the post-midterm election period.
Gabr noted that, regardless of the election results, a military campaign is likely to take place—possibly early next year—to align weather conditions with specific weather-dependent military objectives.
She said that this situation also reveals the US has suffered a setback on the diplomatic front.
