ARCON Has Been Watching Rage Media

Translate

…. The advertising agency only found out when they called its name.

Most agencies would rather the regulator did not look too closely at their work. For years, quietly, Nigeria’s advertising regulator has been looking very closely at RAGE Media’s.

Every advert, every approval every campaign that passed through vetting before it went live. Nobody announced it. Nobody was told to prepare.

Then, on Friday, 23 October, at the ARCON Special Recognition Awards (ASRA) 2026 in Ikeja, the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria read out the result. RAGE Media Group: Advertising Compliance, Real Estate, for its work with Lekki Gardens.

There was no entry form and no polished submission video. ARCON’s Secretariat reviewed every eligible advertisement it had vetted, shortlisted the brands and agencies with the highest volumes of approved work in each sector, and put the finalists through technical assessment, jury review and final ratification. An independent audit firm verified the lot. The regulator, it turns out, keeps score.

For an agency, that is either a nightmare or a vindication, depending on what the scorecard says.

RAGE’s scorecard says a habit nobody applauds has finally paid off. At the agency, vetting is budgeted from the very first proposal. Approval windows are booked before media is. Teams working in the most tightly watched sectors, real estate, financial services and gaming, plan around ARCON’s requirements before a single line of copy is written. None of it ever makes the showreel. All of it is the reason the work stays up once it launches.

“Brands entrust agencies with something valuable: the way they are presented to the world. That responsibility demands creativity, strategic understanding and respect for the standards that govern our industry,” says George Omoraro, Group CEO of RAGE NXT.

ARCON themed the night “An Evening of Many Honours,” a reminder to the industry that the regulator rewards good conduct as readily as it enforces the rules. Its Director-General, Dr Olalekan Fadolapo, said the awards were designed to recognize professionalism, innovation and contributions to the advertising ecosystem.

So yes, ARCON has been watching RAGE Media. The agency is perfectly happy to be watched..
