Father, son feared lost in Besut forest while searching for medicinal roots

JERTIH: A father and son are feared lost in a forest near the La Hot Springs recreational area in Hulu Besut after venturing in to search for medicinal roots on Thursday.
Besut police chief Superintendent Mohd Rozaime Ab Rahim identified the two as Adam Adnan, 25, and his father Adnan Mohamad, 57.
He said the two men, from Kulim and Alor Star in Kedah, respectively, were staying at a chalet in Kampung Padang Landak here before heading into the forest at 7am on Thursday.
"At 3.30pm yesterday, one of them contacted a family member saying they were lost and could not find their way out of the forest," he said today.
Rozaime said the two men could not be reached after that call, prompting their family to alert the authorities over concerns for their safety.
A search and rescue operation involving the police, the Fire and Rescue Department, the Civil Defence Force, and villagers is currently underway.
