Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna’s much-anticipated period action drama, ‘Ranabaali’, hit the big screens today. The film’s reviews and ratings have been disabled on the online ticketing platform BookMyShow following a court order.

The development comes after a Bengaluru court granted interim relief against allegedly defamatory and false online content about the film ahead of its release.

Bengaluru court issues interim order

As of now, a disclaimer on BookMyShow states that reviews and ratings have been disabled in accordance with the court order. The ‘I’m Interested’ and ‘Book Tickets’ options remain active on the film’s page.According to LiveLaw, the Bengaluru court passed an ex parte interim order on Friday, directing several online platforms to remove specific content allegedly deemed defamatory or false about ‘Ranabaali’.The order reportedly covers X Corp, YouTube, Google India, BookMyShow, IMDb, Facebook India, Meta platforms and unidentified John Doe defendants. The relief is linked to the content and URLs identified in the legal proceedings. The case is scheduled to come up for hearing again on November 6.

‘Ranabaali’ makers allege review bombing

The makers of the film reportedly approached the court over online posts and comments they considered defamatory. According to the complaint, negative comments, reaction videos mocking the teaser and predictions that the film would flop began appearing online after its teaser was released on September 9.

The production house alleged that the activity amounted to review bombing and claimed that anonymous accounts and bot networks were being used to encourage a boycott. These remain allegations made by the makers and should not be treated as established findings by the court.Interestingly, ‘Jailer 2’, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and starring Rajinikanth, has also had its reviews and ratings disabled on the ticketing platform.

The film was released a day before ‘Ranabaali’.

Plot and cast of ‘Ranabaali’
