A worker sent to fix a cell tower in India was allegedly tied up by locals over their fury at the poor 5G connectivity.
The technician, named locally as Aditya Bhan Singh, was tied and bound with cables to a mobile tower in the village of Hardauli in Uttar Pradesh's Fatehpur, in what police have called a dispute over connectivity issues.
The villagers had been experiencing slow signal and only received unstable 4G when they had been paying for 5G for over two years.
Despite frequent complaints, they said no measures had been taken to improve the signal.
Locals confronted Mr Singh when he arrived to fix the connectivity issues and complained about the installation of the private telecom tower which they had insisted worked poorly.
Villagers were heard referencing the slow signal when tying Mr Singh to the tower.
It was reported that by tying up Mr Singh, the villagers hoped it would highlight the issue to more senior staff in the mobile company who they felt had ignored their complaints.
They allegedly threatened to not untie Mr Singh until officials from the network provider visited the village and fixed the issue, however he was soon released.

Five people related to the incident have reportedly been charged with unlawful confinement and disturbing public order.
According to the Times of India, Superintendent of Fatehpur Police, Abhimanyu Manglik, said: 'Villagers claimed the area had been facing poor mobile connectivity, particularly 5G services, for nearly two years despite a private telecom tower being installed there.'
The footage of Mr Singh being tied to the cell tower was shared on social media and locals filmed an accompanying video displaying the poor signal.
Only when it was shared online was the incident reported to the police.
