EastEnders star Tony Discipline hints at plans to marry "soulmate" Shona McGarty

Translate

Former EastEnders star Tony Discipline has hinted that he plans to marry partner Shona McGarty in the not-so-distant future, with the actor describing his past co-star as "the love of my life" and his "soulmate".

The pair, who played Tyler Moon and Whitney Dean respectively, got together earlier this year, with the duo confirming in July that they were in a relationship after fans had speculated about their bond for months.

And it seems that their romance could be taking a huge step in the future, with Discipline telling The Sun that he "absolutely" planned to tie the knot with McGarty sooner rather than later.

"100%. Yeah, absolutely - that's my lady," he said. "That's the love of my life. I've known her [for] a long time. We've always had partners, so we never stepped over the line. But in the last year or so our chemistry has really come to light.

"She's just the best woman in the world. Her energy, she's so funny, she makes me laugh every day. I'm a very lucky man to have her and she's got a beautiful voice, hasn't she? I don't want anyone else in my life. That's my woman, that's my soulmate."

Discipline, who played Tyler for two years on the BBC soap before departing in 2013, was speaking to the publication at the West End premiere for McGarty's latest production From the Heart, and shared photos on social media.

Taking to Instagram, the actor wrote: "What an opening show for From the Heart. I am so proud of you My Beautiful Shon. You was simply incredible up there last night. The Love Of My Life."

McGarty, who left the soap in 2024 before making a surprise cameo appearance earlier this year, spoke about her relationship with Discipline in August as she called her former co-star "The One".

"I am so happy. And to be honest, I've had a soft spot for him for years," she said. "I always felt like he was The One. We've been friends since meeting on EastEnders – we've known each other for 15 years, but for a long time it felt to me like it could be more."

"We got talking a while ago and it just happened. I am really smitten. I adore him. We're really excited for the future. It's moving quickly, in a good way... He's gorgeous, and he's such an old-school gentleman," she added.

EastEnders airs on Mondays-Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
