'I promise I will not tell the court about your abuse and trauma': Celina Jaitly recalls seeking amicable separation from Peter Haag; says divorce notice came as anniversary gift

Celina Jaitly has opened up about the difficult circumstances surrounding her separation from estranged husband Peter Haag. In an emotional Instagram post, the actor described her departure from Austria for Mumbai in October 2025 and recounted her efforts to reach an amicable settlement.

She also made several allegations concerning their divorce proceedings, financial disputes and access to their four children. Celina said she continues to fight for justice as the legal battle unfolds.

Celina Jaitly recalls leaving Austria for Mumbai

Reflecting on the decision to leave Austria, Celina described arriving in Mumbai with limited belongings and painful memories. She said the move followed months of personal difficulties and marked one of the hardest decisions she had made. She wrote in her latest post, "One year ago, on 12 October 12, I arrived in Mumbai with a ticket booked on a credit card and one suitcase containing files, my late mother's saree, and heartbreak. The most difficult decision of my life." The actor also recalled receiving a divorce notice in September 2025. She said she had believed she was collecting a gift for their 15th wedding anniversary, only to discover that it was a legal notice.

"In early September 2025, I was driven to the post office for what I believed was our 15th wedding anniversary gift. It was a divorce notice."

Actor says she sought an amicable separation

According to Celina, the couple's first court hearing offered an opportunity to resolve their differences without an extended dispute. She said the judge gave them time to work towards an agreement."At our first hearing, the judge gave us until November to work towards an amicable separation," she wrote.

Celina claimed she pleaded with Peter Haag to settle matters peacefully, citing their children, her brother's circumstances and her concerns about the cost of litigation. She also recounted what she described as a hurtful response to her request. "I begged my husband: 'I promise I will not tell the court about your abuse and trauma.

Let us separate amicably for the children... For my brother... How will I pay for litigation?' 'Speak to my lawyers,' I was told.

I was also told to work as a cleaner if I ran short of legal fees. Fifteen years of marriage and four children. Was this the same man?" she wrote.

Celina Jaitly alleges financial and personal difficulties

Celina further claimed that a subsequent legal notice sought her premarital assets. She also alleged that she faced restrictions related to remaining in Austria and maintaining access to her children. The actor said the situation was complicated by worries about her brother. She also alleged that her interactions with her children were being monitored and recorded. According to Celina, she feared these recordings could be used to portray her as an incapable mother. "Under constant surveillance, even scolding the children for silly things started being recorded in an attempt to portray me as mentally unsound and an incapable mother. How could I bring my children into uncertainty in India while being barred from my own home? With the help of my Austrian neighbours, I left at 1 am.

I spent a week in a hotel, speaking to my children through Zoom and phone calls."

Actor raises concerns over custody of her children

Celina said her communication with the children was severed after she approached the court to reclaim her premarital assets. She also expressed concern about the ongoing custody dispute and the children's circumstances. "The day I went to court to reclaim my premarital assets, all contact was severed. One of my twins messaged that their father was screaming that I had abandoned them.

A year later, efforts continue to take away my joint custody.

My children are being brainwashed, alienated and moved continuously through Austrian jurisdictions." She concluded her account by reiterating her determination to continue pursuing the matter through the legal system. "Yet I await justice. This is the story of a mother who continues to fight..." wrote the actor.
