Wandile Duba has unfinished business with Orlando Pirates

Translate

Kaizer Chiefs forward Wandile Duba will be eager to continue his impressive form when Amakhosi take on Orlando Pirates in the Soweto Derby on Saturday.

The 22-year-old attacker has scored six goals across all competitions this season, making him Chiefs‘ leading goalscorer.

His performances have also highlighted his growing confidence and improved finishing under coach Fernando Da Cruz.

Duba, popularly known as AK47, has become a key attacking outlet for Amakhosi, using his pace, direct running, and willingness to take on defenders to trouble opposition defences.

Why Duba Could Trouble Pirates

Duba already showed what he can do against Orlando Pirates in the previous Soweto Derby.

The young attacker used his strength to get past the Buccaneers’ defence before delivering a cutback for Pule Mmodi, who finished neatly to give Chiefs the lead.

Amakhosi couldn’t hold on to their advantage as Pirates found an equaliser 10 minutes later, and the match ended in a draw.

On Saturday, Pirates’ defence will once again have to be alert to Duba’s threat. His pace and ability to run directly at defenders could create problems, particularly if he finds space behind the Buccaneers’ backline.

The Chiefs forward has also shown greater confidence on the ball, taking on opponents and looking to make things happen in the final third. If Pirates allow him time and space, he could make the most of those opportunities.

Duba’s determination is another quality that could work in Chiefs’ favour. The attacker is known for his competitive nature and will be desperate to make his mark in one of South African football’s biggest fixtures.

Despite his growing influence, Duba is still searching for his first goal against Orlando Pirates. With the spotlight firmly on the  Soweto Derby, he will have extra motivation to break that duck.

The outspoken winger heads into the highly anticipated encounter on the back of an impressive hat-trick against TS Galaxy in his previous match. That performance will further boost his confidence as he prepares to face the Buccaneers.

If Duba carries that scoring touch into Saturday’s clash, Pirates could have a difficult afternoon trying to contain one of Chiefs’ most dangerous attacking players.
