Wes Streeting left ‘kicking himself’ as he admits he doesn’t know cost of UK’s new military space squadron

Wes Streeting could not confirm the cost of the UK’s new military space squadron during a live interview on LBC on Wednesday (23 September).

The defence secretary spoke to Nick Ferrari about the new RAF Squadron which will protect satellites used to warn of incoming missile attacks, provide communications and help guide ships, according to the Ministry of Defence.

When asked how many people would be deployed and how much the unit would cost, Mr Streeting said the squadron would be comprised of "tens of people" and did not have the economic figures to hand.
