Enyimba end losing streak with goalless draw against Pillars

Nine-time champions Enyimba ended their four-match losing streak in the Nigeria Premier Football League after holding Kano Pillars to a goalless draw at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano, on Sunday, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The People’s Elephant secured their first point of the 2026/27 campaign following a difficult start that had left them rooted to the bottom of the table.

Enyimba travelled to Kano desperate for a response after suffering a 3-2 defeat to Sporting Lagos in their previous outing, a result that extended their losing streak to four matches.

Before then, Inter Lagos had beaten them 1-0 in Aba, marking two consecutive defeats against two newly-promoted teams.

Against Pillars, the visitors managed to avoid another defeat, keeping a clean sheet against a side that had scored 10 goals in their opening four league matches.

The result will offer some encouragement to Enyimba, who had struggled to find both results and defensive stability in the opening weeks of the season.

After conceding three goals against Sporting Lagos, Enyimba showed greater defensive resilience in Kano. However, their failure to turn that improvement into a victory means they are still searching for their first win of the campaign.

They will return home to face Shooting Stars in another tough test on Wednesday.

Shooting Stars also lost their match-day five encounter in Warri on Sunday, dropping to the 16th position on the table.

The Oluyole Warriors have won two games this season and will be hoping to bounce back from Sunday’s defeat, possibly getting a point out of their double away fixtures.
