Genshin Impact 7.2: Release Date, Livestream Codes, New Characters, Banners, Story Updates, & More

This article covers a developing story. Continue to check back with us as we will be adding more information as it becomes available.
All the details about Genshin Impact 7.2 have been officially revealed by developer HoYoverse during the upcoming patch’s livestream, and there’s actually a lot in store for the update. A few months ago, HoYoverse’s hit action RPG added the region of Snezhnaya to the game, taking players to the seventh and final nation of Teyvat. The free open-world RPG continues to expand with every update, bringing in new playable characters to make the roster grow, while also adding new map locations and areas to explore. Snezhnaya’s release in Version 7.0 was huge, but there’s more.
While Version 7.0 added characters like Alyosha and Odette, the release of Genshin Impact 7.1 introduced the five-star characters Vesna and Vodyanitsa. On top of that, the update added a new chapter in the main campaign that pushes the limits of the story arc. Version 7.2 will give continuity to that, but also expand significantly. There will be new playable characters, new areas, new bosses, an unmissable portion of a story arc, and much more. Luckily, fans won’t have to wait much longer, as the update is just around the corner.
Genshin Impact 7.2 - Release Date
Following the conclusion of the Version 7.2 livestream, developer HoYoverse revealed when players can expect the patch to drop. The Genshin Impact 7.2 update will be released on November 4, across all platforms on which the game is currently available. As is usually the case, the action RPG will enter its maintenance period on November 3 – depending on your region, you may be able to start playing through Version 7.2 content on November 3 at night.
With the release date already determined, it’s highly unlikely that the developer will postpone the patch in any way. When a delay is in order, HoYoverse usually delays the update’s respective livestream, too. On top of that, Genshin Impact hasn’t seen a delay in content in years, so fans can rest assured they’ll be able to play the new content in early November.
Genshin Impact 7.2 Livestream Codes
During the special event, the developer also presented special codes, which can be redeemed for in-game goodies. The Version 7.2 livestream codes allow players to snag items like Character EXP Materials, but their most important reward is the bundle of free Primogems. With three distinct livestream codes, each one offering 100 Primogems, players can grab up to 300 free Primogems in Genshin Impact.
The table below lists all three Version 7.2 livestream codes, as well as the respective rewards you get from redeeming each one:

The only issue with these livestream codes is that they are time-gated, so you’ll need to redeem them before they expire. To do so, you can choose one of two methods. The first of them is via the official Genshin Impact website. Therein, you’ll log in and redeem each code individually. The other option is to do something similar via the Account page within the in-game settings. Regardless of the method you choose, after redeeming the codes, you’ll need to claim the rewards from your in-game mailbox before you use them.
There were some leaks, but HoYoverse has now confirmed that Version 7.2 will see the release of two new playable characters. The first of them is Mitya, a new 5-star Electro character who wields a catalyst in battle. Mitya’s main specialty will be dealing Electro damage that scales with his Elemental Mastery stat, while also converting Superconduct reactions into Stellar Conduct. As such, you can expect Mitya to work well with Odette in Genshin Impact.
Meanwhile, Valeriy will be a new 4-star Electro character in Version 7.2. The character will also work around Stellar Conduct reactions, but his job will be protecting his on-field allies with his shield, while also contributing to Electro application and granting the party a few damage bonuses. Valeriy may be an alternative to Alyosha in Genshin Impact in the sense that he’ll also occupy that support role in Stellar Conduct teams.
HoYoverse has also revealed the banner structure for Version 7.2. Phase 1 banners will see both Mitya and Valeriy’s debut – though, as a 4-star unit, Valeriy will soon be incorporated into the regular banner pool.
Genshin Impact 7.2 - Story Updates, Events, & More
In addition to the new characters, HoYoverse has also confirmed that Genshin Impact 7.2 will have a huge load of content. First off, players will see a new expansion to Snezhnaya, introducing a new area within the Nation of Cryo, including three Local Legends to take down and a new World Boss to face, which will drop important Ascension materials for characters.
Considering how much Snezhnaya is connected to Celestia in Genshin Impact, we’ll also get to learn more about this legendary plane and home of the Heavenly Principles. The Archons have been confirmed to make a comeback, defying the order of their makers. Mitya’s story will also be explored during the patch’s content. On top of the core story content, Version 7.2 will also feature a special flagship event that will give players a free 4-star character choice.
There’s a ton of new content to look forward to in Version 7.2. Regardless of whether you prefer exploring the world map, learning more about the story, or farming Primogems, the next Genshin Impact update will be a big one.
