Spain's In-Form Eugenio Chacarra Wins DP World India Championship

Translate

Red-hot Spaniard Eugenio Chacarra won his fourth DP World Tour title on Sunday with a two-shot victory at the weather-affected DP World India Championship in New Delhi. Chacarra, who won the Dutch Open and the Open d'Italia in June and the Indian Open last year, finished at 21-under-par at the Delhi Golf Club. The victory will see Chacarra move to the top of the Race to Dubai rankings, overtaking Patrick Reed, who finished at eight-under-par. The 26-year-old carded a final-round two-under 70 and celebrated with a fist pump after securing his third DP World Tour title of the season.

New Zealand's Daniel Hillier finished second at 19-under, while Chacarra's fellow Spaniard Angel Hidalgo and Poland's Adrian Meronk shared third place at 15-under.

England's Tommy Fleetwood, the defending champion, finished tied for fifth at 13-under.

With the tournament playing catch-up following weather disruptions, Chacarra completed his third round on Sunday morning to extend his overnight lead.

He maintained his advantage in the final round with three birdies and one bogey.

Six-time major champion Rory McIlroy, who had been in contention after the weather-affected opening rounds, finished tied 42nd at four-under.
