Former ‘SNL’ star Ego Nwodim mocks Shane Gillis monologue about women’s gym outfits

Former “Saturday Night Live” cast member Ego Nwodim appeared to respond to Shane Gillis’ controversial monologue from his latest hosting stint Saturday, during which he said that women who wear short shorts to the gym are dressing like “whores.”

“Whore reporting for duty,” Nwodim captioned an Instagram story Monday that featured a photo of her in the gym wearing black leggings, a black long-sleeve shirt and a black baseball hat.

She then posted a photo of her post-workout meal, writing, “Getting my 30 grams of protein in after heauxing,” with “heauxing” being slang for “whoring.”

Gillis’ monologue garnered backlash online in the days since, with people calling the raunchy comedian “tone deaf” for making a comment about women’s bodies, especially as the country reckons with the scandal over an alleged sexual assault at Cornell University.

In the seven-minute, stand-up style monologue, Gillis claimed he “didn’t know women just dress like whores now” at the gym. He went on to describe the “neon, artificial-vape colored” shorts that women are wearing to work out, and the fact that men are not allowed to look at women in those shorts.

Actor Dan Levy also joined the conversation Sunday night. In a selfie-video posted to Instagram, he said, “Women wearing short shorts at the gym does not make them whores. It makes the men calling them whores misogynists. There’s a difference there.”

He went on to call women “superior human beings to men” and called on the male population to more often support their female counterparts.

Saturday was Gillis’ third time hosting the late-night sketch comedy show. He was hired, and then quickly fired, from the cast in 2019 after clips of racist jokes he had previously made on his podcast surfaced online.

Nwodim was on “SNL” from 2018-2025 and became a mainstay in the cast with recurring characters such as Miss Eggy and Lisa from Temecula.
