Winning Kesidang could pave way to Putrajaya, says Rauf

Barisan Nasional is optimistic that its cooperation with Perikatan Nasional can help it wrest the Kesidang seat from DAP in the Melaka election and strengthen the coalition’s prospects of returning to Putrajaya.
Melaka BN chairman Ab Rauf Yusoh said the cooperation between BN and PN under Muafakat Melaka could bring a new dimension to state politics by uniting people from different backgrounds in the interest of stability.
The chief minister expressed confidence that PN candidate Albert Kok, a Kesidang native, could serve the area’s residents well if elected on Nov 14.
“We (BN) used to represent this constituency, but we lost it for two terms,” he said after visiting BN’s operation room in Kesidang today.
“We can win the seat this time if we have a well-planned and organised campaign.
“I have instructed all Umno and BN machinery, including MCA and MIC, to work alongside PN to ensure Kesidang returns to Muafakat Melaka,” he said.
Rauf also said he was satisfied with the commitment shown by the election machinery of both coalitions during campaigning.
BN is contesting 23 of the 28 seats in the election while PN is fielding candidates in the remaining five constituencies.
Pakatan Harapan’s Seah Shoo Chin retained Kesidang with 14,769 votes in the 2021 election, defeating BN’s Leong Hui Ying, who received 4,532 votes, and PN’s Ng Chin Kae, who secured 3,124 votes.
Kok will face Seah and Bersama candidate Dr Bryan Kek for the Kesidang seat.
