Senegal Edge Sand Eagles 6-4 In Friendly

African champions Senegal defeated Nigeria’s Sand Eagles 6-4 in an entertaining friendly match played at the Murtala Mohammed Square in Kaduna on Saturday night.

Abdullahi Hassan was Nigeria’s standout performer, scoring all four goals for the Sand Eagles.

Mamadou Sylla led Senegal’s scoring with a hat-trick, while Mandione Laye Diagne, Ninou Jean Paul Diatta and Asane Ba also found the net for the African champions.

The two sides will meet again at the same venue in another friendly on Monday as Nigeria intensifies preparations for their 2026 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations qualifying clash against Ghana’s Black Sharks.

Abdullahi Isa’s side will host Ghana in the first leg in Kaduna on Saturday, October 10, before travelling to Accra for the return leg on Saturday, October 17.

The winner of the two-legged tie will secure qualification for the 2026 CAF Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations finals, which will be hosted by Senegal.
