A four-year-old girl has died after falling from a tower block in East London.

The Metropolitan Police said officers were called to the scene at an address in St Paul's Road, Barking, at about 11:00 BST on Saturday morning, following reports that a child had fallen from height.

Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service gave first aid and the child was taken to hospital, but later died from her injuries.

A Met spokesperson said the incident was not believed to be suspicious.

"Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with the child's family and loved ones at this incredibly difficult time," they said.

"An investigation into the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident is ongoing. However, at this time, the incident is not believed to be suspicious.

"We urge anyone with information about the incident to contact police on 101, quoting CAD 2424/24OCT."
