Leviste wants to post bail in person, says spokesperson

MANILA, Philippines – Batangas Rep. Leandro Leviste plans to personally post bail following a court arrest warrant over allegedly violating the Public Service Act, the embattled lawmaker’s spokesman said on Thursday.

Lawyer Antonio La Vina said Leviste, who is reportedly in France, intends to post bail and address the legal case involving his multi-billion solar firm “when he comes back.”

Though La Vina conceded he does not know when Leviste will return to the country.

“No knowledge about his date of return, except that he will come home with his mother Loren,” he said in a message, referring to Sen. Loren Legarda, who is undergoing treatment for a lung and autoimmune condition in France.

Leviste faces a court arrest warrant for allegedly violating Section 25 of the Public Service Act alongside two Solar Para sa Bayan Corp. officials, who were granted temporary release after posting bail on Wednesday.
