Germany’s trade surplus narrows in August as exports dip

- Germany posted a trade surplus of €19.5B in August 2026, as exports declined 0.8% from July while imports increased 0.9%.
- Calendar- and seasonally adjusted exports totaled €137.6B, up 6.2% from August 2025. Imports reached €118.1B, an increase of 5.5% Y/Y
- The August surplus narrowed from an adjusted €21.6B in July as imports increased while exports declined on a monthly basis.
