"Will Hurt You Every Day": Not Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Or Abhishek Sharma, This India Batter Gets Ultimate Praise

Ishan Kishan is steadily developing into one of the best all-format batters in the world. Not only is he the No. 1 T20I batter in the current ICC rankings, he also recently scored a century for India in an ODI against Afghanistan, and made a sensational 270 in red-ball cricket in the Duleep Trophy final. Just a few days after the Duleep Trophy knock, Kishan seamlessly transitioned back to T20 cricket and slammed 42 in India's win over Afghanistan in the first T20I on Sunday.

Former India cricketer and reputed commentator Murali Kartik heaped praise on Kishan's development as a batter.

"He has been a modicum of consistency for India. Just look at what he has been doing from the time he has come back into the side. He has been phenomenal. He is one of those who has found a way to get runs now," Kartik said on Kishan, speaking on Sony Sports.

"The initial impetuousness that he had when he was in the Indian team before; now the transformation has been heartening to see," he added.

Kartik explained how Kishan has become a threat for bowlers across the world.

"Some of the shots that he plays and some of the control that he has over most of the shots, there are certain no-go areas as a bowler to him. Don't go into his hips, don't bowl short, don't bowl wide; he has got such fast hands, he is going to hurt you every day," Kartik said of Kishan's game.

2026 has been a dream year for Kishan. After leading Jharkhand to the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in late 2025, Kishan made his way back into the Indian T20I team. By the time the T20 World Cup 2026 came round, he broke into the playing XI and starred in the nation's triumph.

Kishan then had an excellent IPL 2026 campaign for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), and proceeded to re-enter India's ODI setup too. Following his Duleep Trophy exploits, the 28-year-old may have played himself back into Test reckoning as well.
