Danny Danon offers Starlink device shown in Netanyahu's speech to Iranian UN delegation

"I thought it appropriate to give you the Starlink," Danon said to the delegation. "It can be very useful for you to allow the Iranian people to get their freedom after what you did to them."

Israeli United Nations Ambassador Danny Danon posted a video on social media on Thursday, showing him approaching the Iranian UN delegation, offering the Starlink internet device shown during Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's speech for the people of Iran. 

"I thought it appropriate to give you the Starlink," Danon said to the delegation. "It can be very useful for you to allow the Iranian people to get their freedom after what you did to them. So you want to take it and deliver it back to Tehran?"

Receiving no response from the delegation, Danon added: "We love the Iranian people and we pray for the regime change there."

The people of Iran were again plunged into an internet blackout until mid-May 2026, when the connection was restored after a record-breaking 88 days.

The Islamic Republic of Iran is under increasing pressure from hardline media outlets and figures to escalate the conflict by severing the international fiber-optic cables running beneath the Strait of Hormuz and the Arab Gulf by hardline media outlets and figures.

Hossein Shariatmadari, managing editor of the ultra-conservative Kayhan newspaper, insisted earlier this month that disrupting or cutting off the internet cables was a “necessary measure” to respond to the “crimes of America and its wicked allies.”
