A California woman, 75, was identified and arrested after she killed a 9-month-old Pitbull puppy by running it over with her minivan last month.

Outdoor surveillance footage provided by police showed Hahn Nguyen sitting in the driver's seat of her Honda Odyssey in front of 926 W. Park Lane in Santa Ana, Orange County, California on September 8.

The woman opened the driver's side door to let the puppy out, and then sprinkled dog food on the ground near the front left wheel of the car, the video footage showed.

As the puppy approached the food, the woman slowly drove forward until the rear driver's side tire ran the dog over.

The vehicle remained on top of the animal for 15 seconds before Nguyen drove away, according to Santa Ana Police.

Police responded to the area after someone found the dead puppy on the ground.

Nguyen was identified and arrested a day after police asked for the public's help in identifying the owner of the minivan shown in the footage.

Investigators were able to track her down using license plate reader technology, police said.

The woman admitted to abandoning the 9-month old black-and-white Pitbull mix, who was named 'Blackey.'

She told detectives she had gotten annoyed with the puppy after it bit her boyfriend's shoes and other belongings, according to The LA Times. She did not admit to intentionally running the animal herself, according to the police spokesperson.

She was booked at the Santa Ana Jail and faces charges of animal cruelty and animal abandonment, police said.

In the State of California, intentionally harming an animal is punishable as a felony by imprisonment and/or a fine of not more than $20,000.
