It is officially the end of an era for ‘Girlfriends’ fans. All eight seasons of the beloved sitcom left Netflix as of September 11, 2026, giving viewers one less comfort show to turn to when they want a good early-2000s binge.

The timing is pretty fitting, considering ‘Girlfriends’ premiered on September 11, 2000. All eight seasons of the sitcom were added to the platform in 2020, giving a whole new generation the chance to discover Joan, Toni, Maya and Lynn.‘Girlfriends' starred Tracee Ellis Ross as Joan Clayton, Jill Marie Jones as Toni Childs, Golden Brooks as Maya Wilkes, Persia White as Lynn Searcy and Reggie Hayes as William Dent. The series followed the four close friends as they dealt with relationships, careers, breakups, family drama and everything else that came with being successful Black women in Los Angeles.The OTT platform's official September 2026 list confirms that all eight seasons of 'Girlfriends' were scheduled to leave the service on September 11.

The good news is that ‘Girlfriends' is not completely disappearing from streaming services. Fans can still find episodes on Pluto TV, where the sitcom is available to stream for free. Viewers can also watch the show through Dabl, with the channel available through services including Hulu and YouTube TV.

Its final season was affected by the 2007-08 writers' strike, which ultimately contributed to the show's cancellation.
