Over 100 Edo residents benefit from free medical outreach

A  total of 102 residents have benefited from a free medical outreach organised by Kifayat Global Energy Limited in Ahor, Uhunmwonde Local Government Area of Edo State.

Apart from medical screening, beneficiaries also received health education during the two-day programme, which took place on Wednesday and Thursday.

The Director of Kifayat Global, Ismael Kola, who was represented by the company’s auditor, Busuyi Olowoniyi, said the idea behind the programme was to encourage healthy living, wellness and a culture of regular medical check-ups among residents.

He noted that the programme, which was the maiden edition, was also a way of giving back to the community where the company operates.

“We targeted 100 residents for the pilot edition, but 102 persons benefited from the programme.

“Residents who attended included business owners, commercial motorcyclists, drivers, police officers and many others.

“The idea is to make this a yearly programme so that residents can continue to benefit and also see that we are not all about business but are also keen on giving back to society.

“This is a programme we are passionate about, having operated in this area for seven years. While our focus is to have more branches, we also ensure that those who do business with us are also in good health,” he added.

Nafisat Allimson, who led the medical team, said seven people, including doctors, nurses and medical laboratory scientists, attended to residents during the two-day programme.

She stated that residents received health education on high blood pressure and how to prevent it, as well as blood sugar management.

She said tests were carried out to detect malaria parasites and drugs were dispensed accordingly. She added that tests were also conducted to determine blood sugar levels and blood pressure, with those found to have health issues referred to the nearest medical facilities.

The organisers, who expressed satisfaction with the turnout of residents, said eye tests would be included in next year’s edition.
