A fight broke out at the polling unit of the Osun State Deputy Governor and Accord Party deputy governorship candidate, Prince Kola Adewusi, during Saturday’s governorship election in Ile-Ife.

The incident occurred when the deputy governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Benjamin Kayode Adereti, arrived at Adewusi’s polling unit.

Adereti was said to have earlier cast his ballot at his designated polling unit, Waasin Polling Unit 11, Ilaare Ward 3, before proceeding to the polling unit of the serving deputy governor.

It was gathered that his presence was met with resistance from some supporters of Adewusi who were at the polling unit, resulting in a heated confrontation.

The situation briefly disrupted the otherwise peaceful atmosphere at the polling location as supporters exchanged words and tensions rose.

At the time of filing this report, the reason for Adereti’s visit to the polling unit could not be ascertained.

However, his presence appeared to have unsettled some of the deputy governor’s supporters, leading to the confrontation.
