Mancini’s full-time reaction shows Italy weren’t happy to settle for a draw vs. France

Italy supporters have taken positively to Roberto Mancini’s frustrated full-time reaction after Friday night’s 1-1 draw away against France, as they feel that it shows the Azzurri were not satisfied with settling for a point away against one of the strongest nations in the world.
Italy came from behind to secure a 1-1 draw away against France in the Nations League on Friday evening with second-half goals from Michael Olise and Alessandro Bastoni at the Stade de France.

Mancini’s second spell as head coach of the Italy national team has brought four points from three matches following a 2-0 defeat at home against Belgium, a 4-1 win away against Turkey and Friday’s 1-1 draw away against France.
Given that 2026 had been a year of disappointment for the Azzurri prior to the September-October international break, a draw away against World Cup semi-finalists and 2018 champions France was seen as a positive outcome by most.
However, Mancini’s frustrated reaction when the full-time whistle blew, when Italy were in possession in the France half, shows that the CT wasn’t happy to just settle for a point, but that he thought the Azzurri could go on and win it in the closing stages.
