RAYE Addresses Michael B. Jordan Dating Rumors After Six Flags Outing Sparks Speculation

RAYE‘s search for her future husband continues, despite those rumors she’s dating Michael B. Jordan.

While speaking to Extra on the VMAs red carpet Sunday (Sept. 27), the singer finally addressed speculation that she and the Sinners star are an item after photos of them enjoying a day out at Six Flags Magic Mountain in California sent the gossip mill running wild. “No, we’re just friends who like roller coasters,” RAYE said with a laugh.

The British star did, however, confirm that she and Jordan are actually in the midst of collaborating on a mystery project — but don’t expect any details for the time being. “I’m technically not allowed to talk about it, because I might get in trouble,” RAYE added.

Later that night, RAYE took to the VMAs stage to perform her Billboard Hot 100 No. 11 hit “Where Is My Husband!” and “I Will Overcome,” both of which are featured on her sophomore album, This Music May Contain Hope. The LP was a major success, reaching No. 11 on the Billboard 200 and debuted in the top 10 on four other Billboard charts.

Unfortunately for fans, RAYE has made it clear that she has no plans to make another album until the quest outlined on “Where Is My Husband!” is complete. In June, she told her audience at Billboard‘s Indie Live event at Blue Note Jazz Club in New York City that she intends to name her third LP, And Then She Falls in Love, but she “refuse[s] to write a single song” for it until she finds her person.

“I’m on strike, basically,” she elaborated in an August conversation with TODAY show. “I’m on strike from making an album until I fall in love … I’ve been a songwriter for a really long time, and my perspective has largely just been, ‘This didn’t work out or this sucks or I’m alone. My ex that time, or my ex that time.’ So I’m just very bored of that perspective.”

The vocalist also previously opened up about dating in her May Billboard cover story. “It’s been genuinely so many years that it feels alien to me,” she told staff writer Hannah Dailey at the time. “Sometimes I’m very assured and confident and happy with my life, and then some days I’m watching a rom-com, and I’m like, ‘Where? Where?’”
