Source to 'Post': Israel on high alert, but no concrete intel. warning for attack before elections

Several Israeli officials told The Jerusalem Post following Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s remarks that there is currently no concrete threat to Israel, though they cautioned that the situation could change at any moment.

“We are on high alert and closely monitoring Iran’s actions. The escalation in the West Bank could also quickly turn into something much broader. But there is currently no specific intelligence warning on the table,” one official told the Post.

A second Israeli official said Tehran could decide at any moment to launch missiles at Israel amid the economic and military pressure being exerted by the United States. For now, however, the official stressed that this remains an “option” rather than an “immediate threat.”

Netanyahu warns of attacks ahead of elections

Earlier Tuesday, Netanyahu said during a visit to the Tel Nof Air Base that Israel had indications that its enemies could attempt to attack the country ahead of the elections.

“From here, from the Air Force base, from the long arm of the State of Israel, I send you a message: Don’t mess with us, not now and not ever. Our long arm will reach you anywhere and at any time,” Netanyahu said.

Later Tuesday evening, Netanyahu chaired a security assessment. An Israeli official told the Post, however, that the meeting had been scheduled several days in advance.

“It is unclear why they decided at the last minute to move it to a more secure location,” the official said.
