KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 18 — The Finance Ministry today debunked a poster claiming that QR payments will start carrying a service charge from November 1.

The ministry said in a Facebook post today that the poster, which circulated under the headline “Top news today: QR to start service charge on Nov 1”, contains untrue information.

“There is no official announcement on service charges for QR as claimed in the poster,” it said.

It advised the public not to believe or share the poster.

“The public is urged to always obtain authentic information through the Finance Ministry’s official channels before sharing, to avoid the spread of fake news that could mislead society,” it said.

The ministry did not say who was behind the poster or how widely it had spread.
