Dubois vs Wardley 2 LIVE: WBO title fight result, latest updates and reaction

Daniel Dubois ruthlessly stopped Fabio Wardley to settle the British heavyweights’ hotly-anticipated rematch and retain his WBO world title. DDD dropped the challenger inside the first 17 seconds at the O2 Arena, and he continued to rain blows down on the Ipswich-born Wardley.

It follows his first victory over Wardley back in May, when Dubois won by stoppage in round 10 at the Co-Op Live Arena in Manchester. The bout reached the second round here, but Dubois was always in the ascendancy, bullying his opponent and his corner into submission as the towel was thrown in.

This time, it was the London fighter’s turn to explode out of the blocks, knocking his Ipswich-born opponent down in the corner in 17 seconds before raining down blow after blow on the challenger, who looked immediately wobbly on his legs. Wardley was saved by the bell, making it back to the stool, but he was beaten comprehensively in the second, with his corner throwing the towel in to spare him more misery.
