LeBron James Reveals New Career Venture After Leaving L.A. Lakers

Miami Heat Addresses Accidental LeBron James Introductory Press Conference Video
LeBron James' future Taco Tuesday plans sound like a slam dunk.
The basketball legend—who revealed his historic move from the Los Angeles Lakers to the Philadelphia 76ers in July—has announced his newest title as an investor in the burgeoning restaurant chain Mike's Red Tacos.
"I love tacos, and I especially love how they bring people together to create traditions and share great moments around the table with family and friends," James said in a press release to E! News Sept. 16. "In addition to having an incredible taco, Mike’s Red Tacos brings those same values to life in a fresh, new way for consumers."
As such, the entrepreneur—soon entering his 24th season in the NBA—couldn't help but get off the sidelines to join founder Mike Touma and the team behind Dave's Hot Chicken as they expand the franchise that started as a taco truck across the country, including a location in James' former city, L.A.
"With this leadership team, I see a group that is building something authentic with a long-term vision," the Space Jam: A New Legacy actor continued, "and I wanted to be part of helping bring that experience to more communities.'"
And the 41-year-old, who has made his passion for Mexican cuisine well-known over the years with his posts about Taco Tuesday, celebrated the career milestone in true foodie fashion: by indulging in some of Mike's beloved birria tacos.
"Hey y'all, I'm just chillin' here, relaxing, and I'm not really having a good day." James began a video shared to Instagram Reels Sept. 15. "Sike, you know what today is! It's Taco Tuesday!"

"And it feels even better to celebrate with the @mikesredtacos family," James added in the caption. "Proud to be a part of it!!"
Indeed, James’ latest business move in the restaurant industry is no surprise given his dedication to scoring the best meals. Just ask wife Savannah James, who shared a time her husband came to the rescue during an intense pregnancy craving, an experience she's familiar with as mom to their three kids Bronny, 21, Bryce, 19 and Zhuri, 11.
"In Akron, we have chicken and jojos. If y'all don't know what jojos are, they're potato wedges, basically, but we call them jojos. We was in Cleveland at the time, and I wanted some so bad," she explained on a 2025 episode of her podcast, Everybody's Crazy. "I'm calling around like, 'Can I order chicken and jojos?' And they're like, 'jojos?' So I'm like, 'Y'all don't know what a jojo is?!'"

After James saw his wife in near tears over the local delicacy, he fetched her the next best option—an order from KFC—which Savannah quipped with a laugh, "wasn't the same, but it was good."
He has also invested in Blaze Pizza and Dave’s Hot Chicken.
